The entertainment industry has been hit especially hard over the last 12 months, as the first industry to be shut down and undoubtedly the last industry to return.
The sudden change in lifestyle has forced performers to reevaluate their lives, and look for fulfilment away from the stage and their adoring fans.
While some country music artists have openly struggled more than others, legend Daniel O’Donnell has learned to embrace the slower pace of life and relish the simple pleasures that surround him, like family and his gorgeous home in the Donegal countryside.
Speaking to RSVP Magazine, Daniel shared the greatest lesson he’s learned about himself over the past year.
“I have learned that I am quite happy at home and if I had to stay here and never move out, I would be quite happy,” said Daniel.
“I have certainly enjoyed the downtime and I haven’t felt hemmed in in any way. I didn’t feel the need to get out and go or run and I am very accepting of the situation. It has been lovely to have time at home and a lot of people will agree with me”.
Both Daniel and his wife Majella have embraced technology to keep in touch with fans and their beloved grandchildren, however the steep learning curve has at times given fans some comical moments.

One particular video shared to Daniel’s Facebook page showed the pair hilariously try to set up a video, not knowing they were broadcasting live to thousands of viewers.
“We were so confused with what we were doing, we didn’t even know we were online. A
“ lot can identify with us because we were trying to negotiate something we had never done before. I would never have used Facebook Live on my own before, there would always be someone there to do it for me”.
